WASHINGTON, D.C. — Just ten days after Anthony Scaramucci was named White House communications director by president Trump, the tough talking New York native has been relived of his duties, a spokesperson for the White House has confirmed.
The shakeup occurs after both former White House press secretary Sean Spicer and then Chief of staff Reince Priebus resigned in protest to Scaramucci’s hiring.
According to White House sources, new chief of staff, John Kelly, requested that the president remove Scaramucci and the president concurred.
It is not yet known whether or not Kelly’s request to fire Scaramucci relates to an incident last week during which Scaramucci was caught on tape making disparaging remarks about Steve Bannon and other members of the Trump administration, but sources inside the White House say there was an aura of anger in the Oval Office by those to protested his presence.
Officially, the White House claims that Scaramucci made the decision to leave in an effort to give new chief of staff John Kelly a “clean slate”.
“Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, said in a statement. “Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best.”
