WASHINGTON, D.C. — A car-chase has ended after officials say a female suspect rammed her vehicle into several police cruisers near Capitol Hill.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, is now in custody.

The incident began shortly after 9:30 am EST when police began chasing a vehicle near the Library of Congress. The chase ended about a half-mile away after the vehicle was stopped by a road barricade.

Witnesses say shots were fired during the chase but it has not yet been confirmed whether it was police or the suspect that began firing.

Wednesday’s incident comes on the heels of multiple recent breeches of security near the White House.

On Sunday, a 38-year-old woman who had tried to jump a White House security fence one week earlier, scaled a fence near the Treasury Building. Officials say Secret Service agents arrested her at around 2:15 a.m.

Earlier this month, a suspect named Jonathan Tuan Tran allegedly scaled two fences and a security gate to get on the White House grounds. He, too, was arrested.

So far, police say there have been no serious injuries reported as a result of today’s incident.
