DES MOINES, IOWA — Students at one Iowa high school are under fire after wearing what leftists say was “offensive” clothing during a local basketball game.

The clothing contained no vulgarity, no sensitive images, no anti semitic or racist remarks. So what was so offensive? The colors the students wore: red, white and blue.

The patriotic garb worn by some Valley High School students on Wednesday upset students at Des Moines North High School, because, according to DMNH’s coach, the school is attended by several refugees who somehow found the colors of Old Glory “offensive”.

“Any normal person, any educated person can look at that and think, ‘What the hell are these kids thinking?’” North High School assistant coach Morgan Wheat told WHOTV.com (http://whotv.com/2017/03/09/valley-students-say-usa-themed-student-section-not-aimed-at-norths-refugee-athletes/).
“We’re proud of our diversity at North High School,” Wheat went on to say — “not only on our basketball team, but our population.”

Although the students in question argue they did nothing wrong, school administrators at Valley High sent a letter of apology to Des Moines North students.

“It has been brought to our attention that the decision by the Valley High School student section to wear U.S.A. apparel at our game last night was offensive to members of your community and fan base,” the letter, obtained by the Des Moines Register, began (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/local/des-moines/2017/03/10/north-basketball-coach-were-proud-our-diversity/99031008/). “We are deeply sorry if we have offended anyone in any way.”

We have traditionally dressed in such a fashion for great games such as the one last night. Everyone here at Valley has immense respect not only for your team and players but for your community as a whole,” the letter continued. “Please know that our intent was in no way to offend or demean – just to support our own team in a way we have done before.”

However, not everyone was pleased by the school’s decision to bow down to political correctness.

“I think it’s insane,” said one Valley High school parent who did not want to be identified. “Since when are our nation’s colors considered offensive? All that happened here was a group of kids participating in the most American event you can think of…a school basketball game. They were dressed for the part. How does that “offend” someone? This PC stuff has got to stop. Where does it end? If we all decided to show up in a head scarfs and wave the Islamic flag that would be okay, I suppose. ”

Calls for additional comment to Valley High school administrators were not returned. valleyhighredwhiteandblue
